- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.
1) You know, I don't know this about you! But what was your first slashy couple? The first one I was aware of was Shinji and Kaoru from Evangelion, but what about for you?
Oh, oh MAN...(thinks) The first one I was aware of was Kirk/Spock... but I wasn't actually a shipper of them. One of the first I can recall clearly is Nuriko/Tasuki from Fushigi Yuugi.
2) Out of all the original characters you've created, throughout all the games you've played and fandoms you've participated in, which one is the dearest to your heart? Why?
I... I don't know if I can pick a single one. So many of them are dear to me for varying reasons. (OCs) Sheena the shape changer (at 15) was my first attempt at a broader politically-motivated plot. Brent-Michael, some years later, was the first gay character to tackle flying in the face of a disapproving society. Unsurprisingly, in fandom, I will always love Reno for his role of "honorable bad guy". The villain with a sort of moral code of his own.
3) What's the one place in the whole world you want to see, more than anything else? Why?
Only one, wow... When I was in high school, it was definitely Australia - big country and opal mining, you know. XD But Japan took that place in the early 90's and that hasn't changed to this day. I think it was a desire to see the history and the culture that was so different from the US. Often, I find the US history very short-sighted and self-centric, and it bothers me.
4) What did you want to do when you were little? Do you think you've managed it, or have you gone in a completely different direction from what you wanted when you were little?
I wanted to be a veterinarian. But as I got to understand myself better, I realized that I wasn't tough enough to avoid empathizing with an injured animal, and therefore would not be a good one.
5) What's your top favorite anime/manga? Doesn't matter if they're old or new.
For old anime, I have to say the interplay of real and spirit realms in Weathering Continent still impresses me. Series-wise, I'll always love Fushigi Yuugi. I've loved any number of manga, but I'm still a fan of Banana Fish, and currently am loving Natsumi's Book of Friends.
1. What creative endeavor are you the most proud of?
Augh... I love ALL my kids! Okay, my top three: The charcoal family portrait I did for my English teacher in 11th grade. The Jaded Eden RP for writing. But must of all, my marriage to G-cat.
2. If you had an unlimited budget and no obligations, where would you go and what would you do?
I have always wanted to travel and write/draw. Without a doubt I'd be a travelling artist.
3. Funny story involving the kittehs, GO.
One of our cats was a little black runt that went by the name of Newt. I used to gently torment her all the time, usually starting with gentle skritching first. Seriously. I was like the older sibling who could never resist affectionately picking on the younger until they finally said, "Hey, quit it!" So one day I'm laying across the bed upstairs and Newt's hanging out beside me. She scoots a little closer, purrs at me and starts to groom my face with these delicate licks. So cute... and then she bit my nose. Chomp. If I was a clown, you would have been able to hear the nose-squeaker. Considering it was *just what I used to do to her*, I couldn't exactly get angry, but it did startle me. Newt on the other hand, looked quite pleased with herself.
4. Catt may have asked you this, but...read any good books lately?
Right now I'm enjoying the short stories in the "Machine of Death" collection. I think the last novel I read was "Bloodhound" by Tamora Pierce. It was good and enjoyable, even if wasn't the most flawless story I've read. Tamora spins a very good tale.
5. Everyone had that moment where they realized there were other people out there who also wanted to create things related to their favorite stories. What got you into fandom in general?
High school... Starsky and Hutch and Star Wars. I fell back out of it again until college, where I met G-cat and began girlishly squeeing over stuff again.
