Aug. 12th, 2007 06:04 pmToday, we (all the Mews) went out to see Stardust. And as
adelheid_p mentioned earlier, it wasn't true to the book, but it was pretty close, and it was fabulously true to the sentiment of the story.
FF7, Rude and Reno,
"Shit, Reno! Your leg...," Rude checked his stride, blood still glistening on his face from the fire-fight mere moments ago.
"Go, go, go, go, GO!" Reno's hand was slammed into the small of Rude's back, his fist both pushing the larger man on, and wrapped firmly into the fabric. "There's a freakin' bomb in this place, an' I don't know how long we have...!" The gait of his run was unsteady, but he'd been hurt worse before, and the bullet had missed bone and tendons, so he was still able to run. Without another word, his partner resumed their previous frantic dash, bruisingly careening through doorways using fire-stairs as a fast exit-way. With every step, Reno could hear his heart pounding in his ears - a-live, a-live, a-live....
They hit the back door as the first rumble of the series of explosions started. Rude blasted the lock out of existence and they tumbled out into the alley while windows shattered, spraying them with glass and debris, leaving them with a few extra parting wounds as if they were contestants leaving a game show at the Golden Saucer.
"Made it," Reno was still hanging onto the dark fabric, though he wasn't sure why.
A-live, a-live, a-live.... The blood continued to pound in his ears.
"You...," he was still breathing, and an insane euphoria wanted to celebrate that fact. "Come here." Bloodied hands reached up, twined around Rude's neck, fingers grasping at flesh as desperately as they had held to cloth moments ago. His rangy body pressed up against the solid warmth, pushing it against the stone of the neighboring building, while his mouth covered Rude's with blind desperation. He allowed the fear to melt underneath the heat of his partner's response, allowed the arms around him to bear up a portion of his weight from the injured leg, finally resting his pale forehead on the broad chest.
"We did good, partner. We did real good."
