Out From Under the Rock
Jul. 20th, 2009 04:49 pmI spent an awesome weekend at Otakon, enjoying all the costumes - both good and bad, meeting new people, looking at manga and fanart (with occasional purchases).
sheraton and I made and passed out sugar cookies that didn't behave anywhere close to what we had hoped. Darn that commercial sugar cookie dough. It rose too much, obscuring the cutter-shapes. We'll get it right next time. Fortunately, the cookies were yummy, and well received.
At the convention,
soranokumo was the only person who actually costumed from our group, sliding into a yukata for Friday, and then to into layers of black leather and awesome for Saturday. She was stopped by any number of people who told her that she looked great and asked what character she was cosplaying. I think they were a bit disappointed to find out that this was just Japanese street fashion - one step down from visual K.
Sher and I were far too amused by it all, and several times deliberately dropped behind her by about 10 feet, just to watch the reactions of the people after she had passed by them, and they could stare openly. \o/ I wanna put her and
velithya side by side next time, and watch their heads implode. ♥
Lastly, is a whole extra dose of awesomesauce, as Jimmy Carter rebukes and rejects the Southern Baptist Convention.
