Because the wonderful User=Windlion sucked it up and got this done...

1. What did you do in 2016 that you'd never done before?
Oh shit... I don't know. It's mostly a blur of being pulled one direction and then another: Bought a washing machine. Did political canvassing. Carpal tunnel surgeries.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't do them specifically... But I have invested in equipment that might keep me healthier, and have tried to change my eating habits, which dropped > 30 pounds.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Some niece in laws have had children. But no one close to me, no.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year.

5. What countries did you visit?
I stayed close to home this year, as much as I could.

6. What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked in 2016?
More financial organization. I am flying too much by the seat of my bluejeans.

7. What dates from 2016 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Eh, probably the day that the democratic process was butt-fucked.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Keeping my head above water in regard to work.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting the Mom's estate settled... letting my family push me around about that.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Beyond a twitchy gall bladder (and some back spasms), I'm holding up pretty well.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Caught up on Elfquest. Getting back into anime and manga which makes me stupidly happy.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My co-worker Caroline, for stepping up to the bat in so many ways. My housemates for dealing with my continued work-related absences with as much grace as they can muster.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My blood family. US politics in general. A couple other fandoms that pulled some tremendously unkind and manipulative behaviors.

14. Where did most of your money go?
The money-pit of home ownership, some aggressive debt pay-downs.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Urgh. Nothing much really.

16. What song will always remind you of 2016?
... (I miss music.)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? About the Same.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? Probably richer? But I hate counting my chickens.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Art of some sort. A vacation.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
... clearing out the remnants of my mother's life.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Home sick with my wife. Nearly the best of all possibilities.

Nope, thank you.

Natsume, Log Horizon, Yuri on Ice.

Still not a fan of hating people.

Ready Player One.

... muuuuusic. (whimpers)

Respect at work.

To close up the estate and be done.

Rogue One

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Worked, not old enough to retire.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Money. Hitting the lottery.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2016?
Blue jeans and chubby. Cut my hair short again to try and look a bit more professional

34. What kept you sane?
The family of my heart.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The way that the media shaped and crashed this election to their own detriment and the detriment of so many people.

37. Who did you miss?
Joan, Bonnie, Keri, Barb. So many friends that I just found myself out of sync with this year.
